DELIVERY & PICK UP OF MAIL

Departmental Mail

Campus-wide distribution, delivered on a pre-determined route schedule. This includes all classes of mail.

Forwarding Departmental Mail

If mail is addressed "North Carolina ANT State University" without a department, this mail is forwarded to the Business Manager's Office/

Business Services, located in Dowdy Administration Building, Room 203. This office opens, determines where those pieces of mail should be sent, and then forward it to the appropriate departments.

If this type of mail happens to contain a check, money-order or cash, these items are logged. So then, Business Services calls those departments and asks them to send someone to pick up and sign for those monetary items.

Student Mail

Student first class mail is placed in their mail boxes located in the lower level of Brown Hall by 11:00 a.m. All other classes of mail and notices of mail are placed in their boxes by 2:00 p.m. Departmental mail addressed to residence students is handled as first class mail and is delivered on our next business day.

Special (Accountable) Mail

Accountable mail is delivered from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Depending upon the time we receive accountable mail, we will notify your office of special mail received after 2:00 p.m. At that time, you may determine whether you will pick up your mail before 5:00 p.m. or have it delivered the next business day.

Pick Up of Mail

Mail is picked up from all authorized collection points by the mail clerks on a predetermined route schedule each business day. The Campus Mail Center must have advance notice of unusually large mailings or heavy parcels. This notice should be made 24 hours, prior to the date service is needed. It should also be made ready for pick up by 2:00 p.m. You may give notice by calling the Campus Mail Center at extension 7544. (Large mailings are considered 200 pieces of letter size mail or 50 pieces of any mail over the standard size. For example, 9 X 12 envelopes.)

The departmental mail charge slip must accompany all off campus mail. This form must include the six digit accounting code and the number of pieces of mail by mail classifications (first, second, third, fourth classes or bulk), the date and signature of the person mailing the items. Mail without this form will not be picked up or if it is accidentally picked up will not be processed, but returned to your department.
