PAYROLL CHECK DISTRIBUTION
FACULTY and STAFF
The University Payroll Department, 214 Dowdy Administration Building, receives payroll checks or check stubs (for employees on direct deposit) from the State Treasurer's Central Payroll Office in Raleigh. Mid-month payrolls are received for students, temporary employees, and supplemental payments, while end-month payrolls are received for permanent faculty/staff employees. After processing the payroll, the Payroll Department forwards the checks/stubs for distribution to the Treasurer's Office on the first floor of the Dowdy Building.
Payroll checks/stubs not picked up from the Treasurer's Office within 48 hours are sent back to the Payroll Department for disbursement. Checks/stubs not picked up from Payroll within five (5) working days will be mailed to the most recent address on file for the employee. Should the employee desire for the check/stub to be held by Payroll longer than the five day period, the employee must send a written request to the Payroll Department.
Employees should assure that their current address and
withholdings are on file with the Payroll Department by completing an updated
W-4 form.
STUDENTS

for students at mid-month. After processing the payroll, the Payroll Department
forwards the checks for distribution to the Treasurer's Office on the first
floor of the Dowdy Building.

within ten (10) working days will be mailed to the most recent address
on file for the student. If a mailed check is returned undelivered, it
will be re-mailed to the student's permanent address.

an updated W-4 form.
EXCEPTIONS:

up will be held until January 15 before they are mailed. This will make
these checks available to the student for use in their Spring term registration
Graduate students who have a signed "power of attorney" can have their checks deposited to their student account if they fail to pick them up.
