CONDITIONS REQUIRING PRIOR APPROVAL
The following activities or expenditures require
prior written approval from the awarding agency:
1. Change in the scope or objectives of the project.
2. Change in the principal investigator or other key project people.
3. Change in level of effort of the principal investigator
4. Subcontracting work to a third party.
5. No cost extension.
6. Foreign travel must be approved for specific trips at least 60 days prior to departure (this includes Canada)
7. Domestic travel cost 25% or $500 over budget whichever is greater.
8. Purchase of individual items of equipment costing $1,000 or more.
9. Purchase of specific items of equipment costing $10,000 or more, even when included in the approved budget.
10. Exceeding the equipment budget by 25% or more.
11. For awards over $100,000, re-budgeting line items by $10,000 or 5% of the total budget for the current budget period.
12. For awards $100,000 or less, re-budgeting line
items by 10% of the total budget for the current budget period.
OTHER OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
1. Draft of the final technical report is due 90
days prior to the end of the project period, with the completed
report due at the end of the project period.
2. Five (5) percent cost-sharing is required for
each project.
